Summertime Skincare Tips

It’s shaping up to be a wonderful summer! Warm days, long sunny evenings, and backyard barbecues are sure to make this a summer filled with fun. While you’re busy out enjoying the sun, make sure you still make time for yourself and your skin! Summer is the perfect time to check out all of your products and revamp your skin routine. Check out five summertime skincare tips below and enjoy your sunny glow.

  1. Sunscreen!

We know you’ve probably had mom nagging at you to put on sunscreen your whole life. But really, don’t forget your sunscreen! Sun damage is one of the easiest ways to hurt your skin in the summer. Even if you want a “sun-kissed glow” you should still wear SPF to protect your skin from long-term damage. You can easily create that glow with makeup rather than hurting your skin. Luckily there are tons of products like moisturizers and foundations that already have SPF in them, making it easy to add to your everyday skincare routine.

  1. Lighten Up Your Routine

In the winter, when our skin is feeling dry, we may layer on the products. But in the summer, where sweat and oil are sure to make an appearance, you can ease up on your routine a bit. Consider switching out your cream cleanser for a light foaming cleanser instead. It’s sure to keep your face clean while feeling light.

  1. Exfoliate

Remember that sweat and oil we talked about earlier? To avoid build-up on your skin, you’re going to want to exfoliate more often throughout the summer. This is especially important if you have oily skin. The trick is to not over-exfoliate and gently add in extra exfoliation to your skincare routine over time. A couple of times a week should help unclog pores and give your skin that beautiful summer glow.

  1. Vitamin C and Antioxidants

Summer is the perfect time to add a Vitamin C serum to your skincare routine. It helps prevent hyperpigmentation and improves the appearance of fine lines. It’s great to use at the beginning of the summer to get rid of any dull patches from the wintertime. Adding topical antioxidants to your routine is a great way to decrease any damage caused by the sun throughout the summer. We know that even if you try, it’s impossible to not get a little sunburnt here and there. Antioxidants help signs of aging, wrinkles, and fine lines that may occur from sun damage.

  1. Drink Water

While you should already be staying hydrated, drinking enough water in the sun will help your skin look youthful and glowing. Staying hydrated will not only help you feel great, but it’s a key step in having healthy skin.

Go out and enjoy the summer while keeping your skin protected and looking its best!
